Taking care of our Physical Body (Annamaya Kosha)

As previously mentioned on this Blog, we are like peeling an onion from the outer (visible sheath) Annamaya Kosha which corresponds to the Physical Body and all the organs and functions within it. 

The word anna means ‘food’, implying that this Kosha is nourished by the substances and energy found in the food that we eat.

One can find huge tracts of information on this Kosha by opening any book on human anatomy and physiology. Besides the physical structure, it also includes muscular, nervous, heat and bio-chemical energies.

It can be purified and rendered healthy by a whole range of methods, including a wholesome diet, a healthy life-style and regular practice of Yoga.
